Job Summary
Respond to video and audio interpreting sessions promptly, rendering the meaning of conversations between German and English speakers across healthcare, 911, government, and legal industries. Deliver interpretation services via video while expeditiously typing data on a dedicated device, maintaining a professional demeanor and cultural sensitivity during sensitive calls. Participate in online training sessions and remain available during scheduled hours, ensuring accurate concept transfer without omissions or additions. This remote position requires a quiet home office environment and high-speed internet.
Required Qualifications
- Fluency in German and English
- Skilled in the associated cultural dynamics
- Ability to provide cultural competency and assess regional and accent differences
- Excellent listening, retention and note-taking skills
- Ability to concentrate, stay detached from the conversation, remain neutral and objective
- Ability to provide the required, company standards of service within this dynamic environment
- Must be able to adapt to any LLS technology enhancements
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Legally authorized to work in the United States
- Work authorization that does not now or in the future require sponsorship of a visa
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Ability to read and write the requested languages
- Must have access to a quiet space free from background noise or distraction
- Must be able to operate a keyboard and mouse
- Must remain in a stationary position in front of a computer and webcam
- Must use a headset for prolonged periods of time
- Must have sufficient manual dexterity to type or write
- Able to lift up to 26 lbs
- High speed Internet connection with download speeds of no less than 5 Mbps
- Upload speeds of no less than 3 Mbps
- Ping value of no more than 300 ms
- Jitter value of no more than 30 ms
- Must have a dedicated personal device for business purposes
- Must be able to operate company provided software and systems
- Must be available for scheduled work hours
- Must be able to handle calls that involve sensitive subjects such as end of life conversations, pregnancy termination, vaccinations, and matters concerning sexual orientation and/or gender expression
- Must be able to remain calm during video and audio interpreting sessions in the event that one of the primary speakers is incoherent or upset
- Must follow client instructions, in compliance to protocol
- Must understand protocol and terminology for various industries including Medical, Insurance, Finance and Law
Desired Qualifications
- Education or work experience in language-related fields such as teaching, language assessment, translation or interpretation
- Ability to read and write the requested languages (highly preferred)
