Job Summary
Install groundwater monitoring wells and inclinometers, perform Dynamic Cone Penetrometer and infiltration tests, and classify soils/rock per NYC Building Code and USCS. Draft boring, CPT, and test pit logs using geotechnical software, prepare models from field investigations, and analyze shoring and footing systems with Plaxis. Conduct geotechnical inspections for shallow footings, pile drilling, and slope stability assessments, while preparing drawings for embankment instability and retaining wall support. Execute settlement calculations, pile design for helical, driven, and bored systems, and draft design/analysis specifications. Supervise environmental site assessment data processing, coordinate subcontractors, and ensure contractor adherence to contract documents. Prepare technical reports, manage project schedules, change orders, and budgets, and assist in client relations for proposals and cost estimates. Requires NY PE license, 4-8+ years geotechnical experience, and proficiency in analysis software.
Required Qualifications
- Professional Engineer (PE) license in New York
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering
- 4-8+ years of proven experience in geotechnical engineering design, calculations, drawings, and analysis
- Knowledge of soil classification systems (NYS/NYC BC, USCS), geotechnical logging and mapping, building codes
- Advanced proficiency with analysis and design software
- Strong technical writing skills for reports, memos, and calculations
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities with cross-disciplinary collaboration skills
- Self-driven, detail-oriented, organized approach with ability to manage multiple tasks under deadlines
- Willingness to travel to job sites as needed
