Job Summary
Conduct field inspections for piles, ground improvement, and utilities while observing compacted fills and verifying structural dimensions. Direct drilling operations for exploratory borings, perform permeability testing, and classify soils to evaluate geologic conditions. Document daily progress reports, prepare sketches and data summaries, and assist with environmental sampling and audits. Operate and maintain field equipment including nuclear density gauges and hand augers while complying with safety policies. Interpret blueprints to discuss deviations with contractors and identify new project opportunities. This 100% field-based role requires frequent travel, including out-of-state assignments, and involves outdoor work in all weather conditions with physical demands of lifting 50+ lbs.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor degree in engineering, geology, or environmental science
- 1 to 4 years of relevant experience in site inspections for compacted fills, foundations, and utilities
- Proficiency in interpreting site plans and utility drawings with the ability to apply mathematical concepts to slopes, area, and volume calculations
- Technical skill in using field equipment such as a nuclear density gauge, hand auger, and lump hammer
- Familiarity with AutoCAD
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office
- Valid driver license
- Reliable transportation
- Ability to travel 100 percent of the time including out of state locations
