Job Summary

Undertake detailed ground engineering analysis, lead site investigations and risk assessments, and develop ground engineering design solutions for complex construction projects. Manage and mentor junior staff while conducting technical reviews of reports across sectors including Education, Healthcare, Critical Systems, Industrial, Residential, and Retail. Scope, conduct, and interpret site investigations for large buildings in complex urban environments, masterplanning, data centres, and energy sectors. Demonstrate expertise in engineering geology and apply guidance including BS 5930, Eurocode 7, and relevant BRE standards using specialized ground engineering software. Manage and develop more junior team members while collaborating with senior staff and other engineering disciplines. Build client relationships externally and internally, utilizing strong communication and negotiation skills to overcome project challenges.

Required Qualifications

  • Ideally holding chartership
  • significant demonstrable relevant experience (e.g. a minimum of 8 years in consultancy)
  • BSc degree (or equivalent) in geology, engineering geology, earth sciences, civil engineering, geotechnical engineering, geochemistry or environmental science
  • extensive experience in a broad range of ground engineering work appropriate to your skill set
  • extensive experience of scoping, conducting and interpreting site investigations for a wide variety of schemes including for large / tall buildings in complex urban environments, and for masterplanning
  • experience within the data centre and energy sectors
  • temporary works experience
  • broad understanding of engineering geology
  • specialist in your skill set
  • proven working knowledge guidance including BS 5930/Eurocode 7, BS10175, CIRIA 552, 665, 733 & 758, BS8485, BRE-SD1, LCRM and WM3
  • ability to us ground engineering software relevant to your area of expertise
  • ability to manage and develop more junior members of the team
  • ability to relate to more senior ground engineering staff and other Cundall engineering disciplines in a supportive and collaborative manner
  • proven experience in building client relationships both externally and internally
  • excellent communication skills
  • experience of using your initiative
  • negotiating skills to overcome challenges
