Job Summary
Lead the geotechnical engineering team through coaching, mentorship, and the development of clear expectations and growth plans. Serve as the principal advisor to mine leadership on ground control management, risk assessment, and mine restart readiness. Manage the site's ground control management plan, oversee monitoring and analysis programs, and establish standards for rock mass characterization and backfill performance. Drive innovation in geotechnical systems and data-driven decision-making while assessing existing infrastructure to support safe re-entry and rehabilitation. Partner with Mine Engineering, Operations, Geology, Safety, and Maintenance to align priorities with production and long-range planning objectives.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Geological Engineering, Mining Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or related discipline
- Minimum 10 years of progressive underground mining experience
- Experience with numerical modeling software such as FLAC3D, RS2, Map3D, or similar programs
Desired Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of leadership experience managing geotechnical or technical services teams
- Advanced understanding of underground ground control, rock mechanics, mine restart conditions, and geotechnical risk management
- Experience developing and implementing ground control management plans
- Strong knowledge of underground support systems, backfill practices, and stope stability analysis
- Professional Engineer (P.E) designation or ability to obtain licensure
- preferably in Nevada or comparable North American hard rock operations
