Job Summary
Collate, process, and manage geotechnical instrumentation data while completing daily instrument monitoring reports. Assist engineers in performing design calculations, modelling, and producing technical deliverables, reports, and drawings under their direction. Apply engineering principles to assess and solve geotechnical issues related to mine earth structures, including tailings dams and pit walls. Manage communication with stakeholders and contribute to work standards and procedures. This 12-month student work term begins May or September 2027 in Calgary or Fort McMurray, offering opportunities to work with automation and robotics processes.
Required Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in bachelor's degree program in Civil or Geological engineering
- Possess a valid Class 5 Alberta driver's license or equivalent out of province license with a reasonably clean driver abstract
- A pre-employment drug screening test must be successfully completed
- All candidates applying to Canadian Natural must have legal authorization to work in Canada with no restrictions
Desired Qualifications
- Highly motivated individual with good communication/networking skills
- Experience in computer programming/coding such as Python, VBA or SQL
- Geotechnical Engineering courses and projects, previous engineering experience
