Job Summary
Geotechnical Engineer to join Hatch’s Project Delivery Group in Vancouver, focusing on soil and rock mechanics, leading geotechnical studies, field investigations, and design for infrastructure, mining, and energy projects. Responsibilities include conceptual and detailed design for slopes, foundations, tunnels, dams, and related structures; conducting field investigations (including drone/photogrammetry) and preparing geotechnical reports; coordinating with clients and multidisciplinary teams; mentoring junior staff; and contributing to safety, quality, and design documentation. Requires a Bachelor's in Geological/Geotechnical/Civil Engineering with a geotechnical focus, Professional Engineer registration, and 4-7 years of geotechnical experience; familiarity with Rocscience/GeoStudio and related tools is preferred. Base salary range: $93,000-$120,000.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Geological Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or Civil Engineering (Geotechnical focus)
- Postgraduate degrees are an asset
- Registered as a Professional Engineer
- 4-7 years’ experience in relevant geotechnical and geomechanically investigation and design
- Experience with Rocscience and GeoStudio tools. Experience with Leapfrog, remote sensing tools, Plaxis, and/or FLAC are an asset
- Ability to mentor and coordinate junior staff
- Willingness to work in office and field, often in remote areas
