Job Summary

Collect, process, analyze, and model rock mass and geotechnical monitoring data to understand rock mass response to mining activities. Assist in developing and calibrating numerical and analytical geotechnical models to verify rock mass response and interpret results for excavation stability and mine design optimization. Perform geotechnical engineering tasks including risk assessments, hazard management, and geotechnical drillhole design. Maintain design standards, procedures, and processes while providing technical direction to operational teams and managing study scopes, budgets, and deliverables. Lead geotechnical cell mapping campaigns and coordinate QA/QC for datasets and databases. Full-time, Monday through Friday, 40 hours per week. One day per week requires office reporting; bi-weekly reporting to the coreshed facility. International travel up to 5%; domestic up to 10%; regional up to 15%. Reports to the Bingham Canyon Mine.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Geotechnical, Geological, Mining, or Civil Engineering, or a related field
  • 7 years of related work experience in operating and technical roles
  • 7 years of experience in Processing, analyzing, and modelling geotechnical rock mass and monitoring data
  • 7 years of experience in Modelling and interpreting rock mass responses to mining for excavation stability, mine design optimization, and operational performance
  • 7 years of experience in Geotechnical engineering, mine design, and mining operations
  • 7 years of experience in Rock mass and stability assessments for incorporation into mine design and planning
  • 7 years of experience in Ensuring compliance with safety standards and procedures
  • 7 years of experience in Open-pit geotechnical design experience at Prefeasibility, Feasibility, and Operational project stages
  • 7 years of experience in Stability analyses using RS3, SLIDE3, and FLAC3D
  • 7 years of experience in Data management using AcQuire and SQL database systems
  • 7 years of experience in Analyzing and interpreting geotechnical monitoring data to provide accurate and timely information for mining operations
  • 7 years of experience in Operating procedures for geotechnical activities and quality assurance/quality control practices
  • 7 years of experience in Geotechnical input to excavation practices and blast design to minimize slope damage
  • 7 years of experience in Implementing systems and processes that regularly monitor triggers of major geotechnical hazards
  • 6 years of experience in Geotechnical operational experience working with GroundProbe and IDS radar systems
  • 6 years of experience in Design review using MineSight, Leapfrog, or Vulcan software
  • 6 years of experience in Data aggregation and reporting using GeoExplorer, Power BI, or Tableau
  • International travel required up to 5%
  • Domestic travel required up to 10%
  • Regional travel required up to 15%
  • Full time employment, Monday – Friday, 40 hours per week
