Job Summary
Geotechnical Engineer at Leidos involved in geologic/geotechnical analysis for complex facilities and mission-critical government work. Responsibilities include solving complex problems through technical analysis, conducting geotechnical evaluations using open-source data, imagery, and intelligence reporting; utilizing ArcGIS Pro/Enterprise to analyze site geology and geotechnical attributes; preparing technical briefings and reports; supporting development of sensor-related technologies for geotechnical assessment in denied areas; planning and executing field surveys; interpreting borehole data and rock mass characterization; producing technical reports and conducting field research at sites across the U.S. and worldwide; recommending new technical solutions and standards to support mission objectives; and briefing senior officials on capability trends and findings.
Required Qualifications
- Active TS/SCI clearance (or Top Secret with SSBI and eligibility to obtain TS/SCI with polygraph)
- U.S. Citizenship required
- BS degree in Engineering Geology, Geology, Mining/Geotechnical Engineering with 8+ years of relevant experience, or master’s degree with 6+ years of relevant experience
- Strong background in geomechanics, computer modeling, field geophysics, and tunnel/slope rock mass characterization
- Advanced knowledge of geotechnical software (PLAXIS, SLOPE/W/GeoStudio, LPILE, gINT, Slide)
- Experience with GIS tools (ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Enterprise) and MATLAB
- Experience in drilling, core logging, mining, tunnel construction and design, trenchless technology, rock mass characterization, and intelligence analysis
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills including briefing senior officials
