Job Summary
Senior Geotechnical/Geological Engineer to lead and manage dam rehabilitation and FERC Part 12D projects. Responsibilities include identifying opportunities and winning projects from utilities, managing design and production of plans/specifications, ensuring timely and profitable work, mentoring staff, and engaging in professional organizations. Required skills include advanced geotechnical computations (saturated/unsaturated slope stability, seepage, settlement and crest deformation analyses, seismic and static liquefaction screening, filter compatibility checks, bearing capacity), proficiency with GeoStudio SLOPE/W and SEEP/W, and experience with dam and spillway analyses; must hold a PE in the US with 10+ years of experience and a focus on FERC-related projects.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering with geotechnical/geological emphasis from an accredited university
- Master’s degree in geotechnical/geological engineering is preferred
- Registered professional engineer (PE) in a US state with ability to obtain comity in other states
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in geotechnical/geological engineering
- Experience completing designs and analyses for dams at FERC projects is highly desirable
- Ability to independently manage projects with budgets of 250 to 2000 engineering hours
- Working knowledge of FERC, USACE, Bureau of Reclamation, and similar standards for geotechnical analyses of dam and spillway structures
- Experience providing geotechnical engineering support for structural design
- Proficiency in GeoStudio SLOPE/W and SEEP/W or equivalent tools
- Experience overseeing geotechnical field exploration and lab testing for embankment dams
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
- Strong communication skills and client relationship experience
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
