Job Summary

Geotechnical Co-Op position at GEI in Woburn, MA for Fall 2026. Responsibilities include assisting with engineering analyses and design, performing laboratory testing of soil samples, observing soil borings, monitoring construction activities (pile driving and footing construction), performing computations and preparing spreadsheets, creating and editing drawings in AutoCad, and assisting with proposals and reports. Minimum qualifications require pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering with soil mechanics or foundations coursework preferred; strong verbal/written communication skills; willingness to travel for temporary assignments; valid driver’s license; ability to work in the field and in active construction sites year-round in various weather conditions. Hybrid work schedules may be available for some positions. The role emphasizes a combination of technical engineering work, field observations, and collaboration within GEI’s multidisciplinary environment.

Required Qualifications

  • Pursuit of a bachelor’s degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering
  • Soil mechanics, foundations, or similar course work preferred
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Willingness to travel on temporary assignment if needed
  • Must have a valid driver's license and be willing to work in the field as needed
  • Ability to perform field work in active construction sites year-round without restrictions, and in inclement weather if required
