Job Summary
Geotech Engineer requested as a Resident Project Representative to oversee on-site geotechnical activities for the Everglades Restoration project. Responsibilities include daily on-site geotechnical observation and reporting, coordinating with staff to align project progress with goals, observing and reporting on stockpile and embankment material handling and placement, reviewing design plans and specifications for compliance, evaluating submittals (including RFIs) for technical accuracy, verifying QC/QA data, participating in weekly progress meetings, providing recommendations based on geotechnical data analysis, and preparing comprehensive reports for stakeholders.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Geotechnical or Civil Engineering (Master’s degree preferred)
- Minimum of 5+ years of experience in geotechnical engineering or a related field
- Knowledge of geotechnical activities such as embankment construction, material handling, and stockpile management
- Experience on projects similar to levy's, canals, reservoirs, or gated control systems
- Experience with ASTM methods for testing and reporting for earthen materials
- Strong experience with construction observation and reporting on large-scale infrastructure projects
- Experience working with regulatory agencies
- Strong understanding of geotechnical analysis, interpretation, and recommendations
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment
- Ability to read, interpret, and review engineering drawings, specifications, and submittals
- PE certification is preferred but not required
- Daily travel to the project site (approximately 40 minutes each way)
- Company truck provided for travel to and from the site
- Must be able to work independently and with minimal supervision
