Job Summary
Geoscientist Apprentice in Nottingham (Summer 2026) within AECOM's Rail team. Apprentices will develop hands-on skills across geoscience, geotechnical, and rail-related survey projects, support ground investigations, collect geological/geophysical/geotechnical data, interpret data to understand ground conditions and identify geohazards, learn field equipment and digital tools for mapping, modelling, and analysis, and contribute to technical reports and client documentation. Role involves site visits across various rail locations, collaboration with survey, rail, and engineering disciplines, and participation in sustainability and safety initiatives. Program is part of Keele University Geoscientist Degree Apprenticeship leading to professional accreditation; strong emphasis on independent and team work, attention to detail, communication, and problem-solving. Requires GCSEs A-Levels, interest in geology/earth sciences/rail infrastructure, and right to work in the UK. Hybrid flexibility noted with in-person onboarding and work location options.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 GCSEs at grade C/4 or above including Maths, English and a science subject
- Three A-Levels at grade C or above preferably including science subjects (Geology, Geography, Physics, Chemistry or Maths) for Level 6 Degree Apprenticeship
- Right to work in the UK
