Job Summary
Establish a plan of attack for assigned Geomatics field work, selecting specific survey equipment such as GPS, robotic total stations, and scanners. Execute field tasks including construction staking, topographic surveys, and hydrographic data collection while reducing raw data using least squares-based programs. Adjust maps and drawings with CAD software and perform on-site calculations using COGO packages. Collect, attribute features, and produce maps via GIS software while conducting necessary research in the project vicinity. Operate as a one-person field unit, making logical decisions and interpreting legal descriptions.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Geomatics, Engineering, Land Surveying or related discipline
- 5-10 years of experience
- Proficiency with survey calculations, CAD, and GIS
- Part 107 – Certified Remote Pilots license
- Ability to operate field equipment, calculator, computer, CAD based software, and GIS based software
- Math/trigonometry computation ability
- Ability to make logical on the fly decisions based on a Geomatics background
- Ability to operate as a one-person field unit
- Ability to interpret legal descriptions and field notes
- Ability to effectively communicate findings, make recommendations, and work with people
- Ability to compose clear and concise reports and legal descriptions
- Good communications skills (verbal and written, including technical writing)
- Flexibility to travel extensively and possibly relocate
- Valid driver's license and a driving record that meets company policy (if position requires driving company vehicle)
- Currently authorized to work in the U.S. on a full-time basis
