Job Summary
Conduct diamond drill core and RC chip logging, sampling, and geological interpretation while accurately recording lithology, alteration, and mineralization data. Perform QA/QC checks, mark sample intervals, and collect geotechnical measurements including core recovery and RQD. Monitor active drill rigs, validate survey data, and coordinate with drillers and supervisors to ensure production and quality expectations are met. Communicate daily progress through quick logs and production reports, providing guidance to core technicians. Assist senior staff with technical presentations and program status summaries. This six-month temporary assignment in Arizona supports an active mineral exploration drilling program.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Geology or a related field
- 0–3 years of experience in mineral exploration, mine geology, or a related field
- Experience logging drill core in an active exploration or mining environment
- Experience with, or ability to quickly learn, geological data-entry systems such as acQuire, MX Deposit, or similar platforms
- Understanding of, or ability to quickly learn, sampling protocols, QA/QC procedures, core logging best practices, RQD, oriented core technology, and geological databases
- Valid driver's license and ability to maintain an acceptable driving record
- Ability to safely operate four-wheel-drive vehicles in remote and rugged terrain
- Ability to successfully complete required background checks and pre-employment screening
- Ability to understand, follow, and communicate work assignments, procedures, and safety requirements in English
- Ability to frequently sit, stand, and walk
- Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds
- Ability to work safely in field conditions and remote or rugged terrain
- Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States without visa sponsorship
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with, or ability to quickly learn, geological data-entry systems such as acQuire, MX Deposit, or similar platforms
- Experience with porphyry copper deposits is a plus
- Open-pit mining experience is a plus
- GIS and 3D geological modeling software experience is a plus
