Job Summary
Plan and lead ore-control drilling, collecting, analyzing, and interpreting drilling results to integrate data into short-range geological, structural, and assay block models. Monitor state and federal drilling permit requirements, supervise contractors during geologic drilling, and maintain geologic files, QA/QC data, and databases. Lead ore control efforts to ensure efficient mining and accurate reconciliation tracking while performing special technical studies. Navigate active mining areas, drive light vehicles, and conduct field inspections in accordance with MSHA regulations and safety-first culture.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Geology
- 5-10 years of experience in exploration drilling
- 5-10 years of experience in geological block modeling
- 5-10 years of experience in ore control at a surface mining operation
- Knowledgeable in sedimentary and lithium geology
- Knowledgeable in geochemistry
- Knowledgeable in hydrology
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office
- Advanced knowledge of Geobank Database software
- Advanced knowledge of Maptek's Vulcan block modeling software
- Strong written and interpersonal communication skills
- Strong technical writing and presentation skills
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate and work in a team environment
- Strong critical thinking skills
- Candidate should be based in or willing to relocate to Winnemucca, Nevada
- Must meet at least the specific minimum requirements listed above to be considered a qualified applicant
Desired Qualifications
- Master's degree in Geology
- Professional Geologist designation
- Currently qualified as a Qualified Person under the SEC's SK-1300 and Canadian 43-101 regulations
- Knowledge of Fleet Management System reporting
