Geochemist / Oilfield Geochemistry Specialist

Job Summary
Design and develop geochemistry service offerings for the oil and gas market by planning sample workflows, conducting data interpretation for source rock evaluation, and validating technical proposals. Coordinate laboratory and field activities to ensure deliverables meet client requirements, while preparing reports, presentations, and method statements. Provide technical advisory support to customers and internal teams on scope definition, troubleshooting, and industry trends. Collaborate with sales teams on tender clarifications and demonstrations, and develop internal SOPs and training materials to build service capability. Adhere to SGS HSE policies and travel up to 25% of the time between customer sites, laboratories, and field locations.
Required Qualifications
- PhD, Master's Degree or Bachelor's Degree in Geology, Geochemistry, Chemistry, Petroleum Geoscience, Earth Science or a related scientific discipline
- Minimum 7 years of relevant experience in geochemistry, oil and gas laboratory services, analytical testing, geoscience technical services or related upstream oil and gas work
- Laboratory experience within the oil and gas industry
- Able and willing to travel up to 25% of the time between customer sites, laboratories, field locations and SGS offices, including Shah Alam and Labuan when required
Desired Qualifications
- Experience in reservoir / rocks laboratory, wellsite analysis or field analytical services
- Experience working with oil operators such as PETRONAS, Shell or comparable upstream oil and gas customers
- Experience in geochemistry testing, sample analysis, data interpretation, quality review and technical report preparation
- Exposure to service development, technical proposal support, project delivery, client engagement and technical presentations
