Job Summary
Perform genetic/genomic testing in accordance with CAP standards, including Fluorescence In-Situ Hybridization (FISH), Real-time PCR, Cytogenetic chromosome analysis, Next Generation Sequencing (NGS), Pharmacogenomics (PGx), and Chromosomal Microarray (CMA). Execute both manual and automated processes to obtain results with significant clinical impact, ensuring consistency in routine casework and lab operations. Act as a resource for newer staff while maintaining high-quality output across complex testing scenarios. This role supports the Cytogenetic Testing-Ref Lab in Phoenix, Arizona, where accurate results guide patient care.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in medical laboratory science, chemical or biological science, or another accredited four-year degree with equivalent coursework meeting CLIA qualifications for high-complexity testing personnel
- Three (3) years' experience as a genetics/genomics technologist
- Ability to use good and sound judgment and perform well in supervisor's absence
- Ability to work weekends and holidays, as required and/or on rotation
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Well developed attention to detail and organization skills
Desired Qualifications
- ASCP certification in Cytogenetics, Molecular Biology, or Medical Technology
- Experience across multiple genetics/genomics technologies
- Additional related education and/or experience
