Job Summary

Conduct risk assessment, education, and psychological support for individuals and families at risk for hereditary cancer by obtaining personal and family medical histories. Assess cancer risk and germline mutation potential, determine genetic testing indications based on national guidelines, and coordinate testing while obtaining informed consent. Interpret test results, provide post-test counseling, and discuss screening and prevention recommendations alongside physicians in a multidisciplinary team. Maintain patient charting, submit billing, and communicate considerations for educational level, age, and culture. Monitor program quality, implement care improvements, and participate in case conferences and research activities. Work 8 hours weekly in Shift 1 at Middlesex Health's Comprehensive Breast Center.

Required Qualifications

  • Master's degree in genetic counseling
  • Board certification by the American Board of Genetic Counselors (ABGC)
  • Exceptional communication skills
