Job Summary
Obtain personal and family medical histories to assess cancer risk and germline mutation potential. Determine if genetic testing is indicated per national guidelines, weigh medical and psychosocial impacts, and coordinate testing with informed consent. Interpret test results, provide post-test counseling, discuss medical management, and facilitate cascade testing for relatives. Collaborate with physicians on multidisciplinary teams, critically assess literature, and design clinical protocols meeting CoC and NAPBC standards. Monitor program quality, lead research activities including manuscript development, and supervise counseling students. Maintain patient charting, billing submissions, and detailed reports for referring providers while pursuing continuing education.
Required Qualifications
- Master's degree in genetic counseling
- Board certification by the American Board of Genetic Counselors (ABGC)
- Exceptional communication skills
