Genetics Counselor

Obtain personal and family medical histories to assess cancer risk and germline mutation potential. Determine if genetic testing is indicated based on national guidelines, obtain informed consent, and coordinate testing. Interpret test results in context of patient history, provide post-test counseling, and discuss screening and prevention recommendations. Collaborate with physicians on multidisciplinary teams, supervise genetic counseling students, and participate in research activities including protocol development and manuscript writing. Monitor program quality, implement efficiency improvements, and contribute to professional development through lectures and committee participation. Maintain patient charting, billing submissions, and detailed reports for referring providers.
