Genetics Counselor

Conduct risk assessment, education, and psychological support for individuals and families at risk for hereditary cancer by obtaining personal and family medical histories. Assess cancer risk and germline mutation potential, determine genetic testing indications based on national guidelines, and coordinate testing with informed consent. Interpret test results to provide post-test counseling, discuss medical management options, and facilitate cascade testing for relatives. Collaborate with physicians on multidisciplinary teams, supervise counseling students, and participate in research activities including protocol development and manuscript publication. Monitor program quality and safety while pursuing continuing education to maintain certifications.
