Genetics Counselor

Conduct risk assessment, education, and psychological support for individuals and families at risk for hereditary cancer by obtaining personal and family medical histories. Assess cancer risks and germline mutation likelihoods, determine genetic testing indications per national guidelines, and interpret test results to provide post-test counseling and medical management recommendations. Coordinate testing, obtain informed consent, and discuss screening, prevention, and cascade testing options while maintaining patient charting and billing submissions. Collaborate with physicians, supervise counseling students, and participate in research, case conferences, and program committees. Monitor program quality and safety, implement efficiency improvements, and pursue continuing education to maintain certifications.
