Job Summary
Obtain personal and family medical histories to assess cancer risk and germline mutation potential. Determine if genetic testing is indicated based on national guidelines, weigh psychosocial impacts, and obtain informed consent. Interpret test results, provide post-test counseling, and discuss screening and prevention recommendations. Collaborate with physicians on multidisciplinary teams, supervise students, and participate in research and case conferences. Maintain patient charting, billing submissions, and detailed reports for referring providers. Monitor program quality and implement improvements in care efficiency and safety.
Required Qualifications
- Master's degree in genetic counseling
- Board certification by the American Board of Genetic Counselors (ABGC)
- Exceptional communication skills
