Job Summary
Conduct risk assessments, education, and psychological support for individuals and families at risk for hereditary cancer by obtaining personal and family medical histories. Assess cancer risks and germline mutation potential, determine genetic testing indications based on national guidelines, and interpret test results to provide post-test counseling and medical management recommendations. Coordinate testing, obtain informed consent, discuss screening and prevention options, and collaborate with physicians within the multidisciplinary team. Maintain patient charting, billing submissions, and detailed reports for referring providers while critically assessing genetic and medical literature.
Required Qualifications
- Master's degree in genetic counseling
- Board certification by the American Board of Genetic Counselors (ABGC)
- Exceptional communication skills
