Job Summary
Conduct risk assessments, education, and psychological support for individuals and families at risk for hereditary cancer by obtaining personal and family medical histories and assessing germline mutation risks. Determine if genetic testing is indicated based on national guidelines, obtain informed consent, and interpret test results to provide post-test counseling and medical management recommendations. Discuss screening and prevention options, coordinate cascade testing, and maintain timely patient charting and billing submissions. Collaborate with physicians on multidisciplinary teams, supervise genetic counseling students, and participate in research activities including protocol development and manuscript writing.
Required Qualifications
- Master's degree in genetic counseling
- Board certification by the American Board of Genetic Counselors (ABGC)
- Exceptional communication skills
