Job Summary
Conduct risk assessment, education, and psychological support for individuals and families at risk for hereditary cancer by obtaining personal and family medical histories. Assess cancer risks, germline mutation risks, and hereditary syndrome risks while discussing medical, psychological, social, and ethical impacts of genetic testing. Interpret test results, provide post-test counseling, and coordinate cascade testing for relatives based on national guidelines. Collaborate with physicians to discuss screening, prevention, and management recommendations, maintain patient charting, and participate in multidisciplinary case conferences.
Required Qualifications
- Master's degree in genetic counseling
- Board certification by the American Board of Genetic Counselors (ABGC)
- Exceptional communication skills
