Job Summary

Conduct risk assessment, education, and psychological support for individuals and families at risk for hereditary cancer by obtaining personal and family medical histories. Assess cancer risk and germline mutation potential, determine indicated genetic testing based on national guidelines, and weigh medical, psychological, social, and ethical impacts of testing. Interpret test results, provide post-test counseling, discuss screening and prevention recommendations, and coordinate cascade testing for relatives. Collaborate with physicians on multidisciplinary teams, supervise counseling students, and participate in research activities including protocol development and manuscript presentation. Monitor program quality and safety, implement clinical protocols, and pursue continuing education to maintain certifications.

Required Qualifications

  • Master's degree in genetic counseling
  • Board certification by the American Board of Genetic Counselors (ABGC)
  • Exceptional communication skills
