Job Summary
Coordinate, administer, and deliver medical genetics counseling to patients and families at risk for hereditary disorders, assessing recurrence risks and recommending testing based on risk, benefit, and cost analysis. Review implications with patients and provide crisis intervention regarding unexpected genetic conditions. Educate physicians and health professionals, ensure appropriate patient referral and care, and assist in program development within the collaborative team of the Prenatal Center. Mentor Interns, Residents, and new staff on orientation and genetic counseling practices. Requires a Master of Science in Genetic Counseling, five years of healthcare experience, and board certification or active candidate status with ABGC. Full-time employment with a salary range of $97,665.00 - $146,497.00 per year.
Required Qualifications
- Master of Science in Genetic Counseling
- Five (5) years of experience in Health care or a related field
- Demonstrated skills and experience in teaching using the Adult Learning Principles
- Board certified by the American Board of Genetic Counseling or American Board of Medical Genetics
- Active Candidate Status for the ABGC Board Examination and must successfully obtain ABGC Certification within two (2) ABGC exam cycles or within three (3) years after start of employment
- Washington State Licensure as a Genetic Counselor
- Provisional Washington State Licensure as a Genetic Counselor
Desired Qualifications
- Preferred Experience in pediatric and specifically perinatal genetics
