Job Summary
Provide genetic counseling to patients with personal/family history of cancer, including obtaining and analyzing pedigrees, determining appropriateness of genetic testing, arranging testing, interpreting results, and developing patient care plans. Work collaboratively with genetic counseling team and clinicians, participate in tumor boards and accreditation activities (CoC/NAPBC/NAPRC), and support research protocols. Role includes education of healthcare professionals and patients, psychosocial support, and potential program development; typically 8:00 a.m.–4:30 p.m., on site in Tucson. 1-2 years of experience preferred. Must hold or pursue Master’s in Genetic Counseling and be eligible for Board Certification.
Required Qualifications
- Master’s Degree in Genetic Counseling (ACGC-accredited)
- Must be eligible for Board Certification as a Genetic Counselor; certification must be obtained within 24 months of hire
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, counseling and psychosocial assessment skills
- Critical thinking to complete complex research and analysis
