Genetic Counselor Assistant

Genetic Counselor Assistant at Cleveland Clinic Main Campus supports genetic counselors in delivering patient care by performing complex administrative duties and assisting with communication across a diverse patient population. Responsibilities include completing family history intake, calling patients with negative genetic test results, triaging abnormal findings under counselor guidance, placing test orders, managing prior authorizations and referrals, and serving as a primary contact for patient questions via phone and email. You will help address inquiries about counseling and testing, coordinate genetic testing, gather history for pedigree development, act as a liaison with inter- and intra-departmental clinical teams, prep medical records and test results for scanning, manage lab testing add-ons and interfaces with reference labs, track results, and assist with research study coordination. This position is designed as a two-year pipeline role, akin to an internship or fellowship, for individuals preparing to become genetic counselors. A caregiver in this position works days from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. A successful candidate will have strong communication, organizational, and genetics knowledge, plus experience with common office software and EMR systems.
