Generator Technician

Job Summary
Consult with the Service Manager to plan work and travel schedules, prioritizing customer needs and machine locations. Perform preventative maintenance on generator sets, including fluid changes, system inspections, load bank testing, and automatic transfer switch diagnostics. Provide tools and parts for repairs on customer premises, then report customer details, malfunction descriptions, and time metrics to the Service Manager for billing. Maintain a neat appearance and keep the service truck polished to enhance company image. Requires on-call rotation 24/7 and occasional overnight stays. Must possess technical problem-solving skills, multimeter proficiency, and experience with diesel/gas engines and electrical systems. Valid driver's license and DOT certification required.
Required Qualifications
- High School Graduate or GED Equivalent
- Must have valid driver's license and good driving record to be insurable by corporate insurance carrier
- Must be DOT certifiable
- Must be 21 years of age to be DOT certified
- Experience with diesel and/or gas engines including servicing and repairing
- Have some Electrical experience and general knowledge of wiring including reading Diagrams, installation and repair of electrical components and circuits
- AC and DC
Desired Qualifications
- Good technical problem solving and trouble shooting skills
- Know how to use a multimeter
- Must have own tools
- Good computer skills
- Work well with others and possess good people skills
- Have a professional attitude, and be able to work with customers on a one on one basis
- Job requires stooping, bending, climbing, and capability of lifting up to 50 pounds
- Required on occasion to stay overnight at out of town locations
- Required to be on call rotation 24/7 at times
