Job Summary
Generator Service Technician responsibilities include inspecting, maintaining, troubleshooting, diagnosing, repairing and testing 5 kW–4000 kW generator systems; interacting with customers; correctly filling out paperwork; reading and applying technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics. The role requires mechanical and electrical aptitude with experience in diesel generators, technical schooling, willingness to learn new technologies, and flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and on-call rotations with occasional travel. OSHA-compliant operation of heavy equipment, forklifts, and mobile cranes is expected. A Journeyman Electrician certification is a plus but not required. Total compensation ranges from $87,600 to $104,760 per year.
Required Qualifications
- Mechanical and electrical aptitude
- Experience in mechanical and electrical fields, particularly with diesel generators
- Technical schooling in automotive or transportation fields, commercial, residential electric and/or like military experience a plus
- Willingness to learn and use new technologies
- Available to work various shifts, weekend, holidays and on-call pager rotations with occasional out of town travel/overnight stays
- Able to safely operate heavy equipment, forklifts, and mobile cranes per OSHA regulations
- Certified Journeyman Electrician a plus but not required
