Job Summary
Maintain generators, diagnose and repair problems, and install or replace components on out-of-season equipment while conducting performance checks to ensure proper readiness. Install fuel and water supply lines, pumps, electrical wiring, and controls, then test for proper operation. Respond promptly to Power/Generator alarms and be available for 24/7 on-call rotation to answer assigned phone and email communications. Work with awareness of potential hazards including falls, electric shock, and traffic, utilizing safety equipment and participating in designated safety meetings. This role serves commercial generators on cell phone towers across the Telecom industry, requiring two years of generator maintenance experience and the ability to drive long distances for extended periods.
Required Qualifications
- Two or more years of experience with generator maintenance is preferred and a minimum of one year of intense work-related experience with generator and electrical maintenance-related software, hardware, and processes
- Thorough knowledge of generator installations, maintenance, and repair of Generators
- Knowledge of electronic, mechanical, and electrical components
- Moderate computer skills
- Basic knowledge of pertinent FCC/FAA/EPA/OSHA regulations
- Must be able to comply with OSHA Standards
- Must be able to lift over 50 pounds
- Must be able to inspect and/or troubleshoot equipment/alarms effectively, both visually and audibly
- Must be willing and able to drive long distances
- Must be willing and able to work day, evening, or night hours
- Must be willing and able to work overtime
- Must be willing and able to work emergency callouts
- Must be willing and able to work weekends
- Must be willing and able to work holidays
- Must assume 24-hour on-call duty when assigned
- Must be gone from home for extended periods of time
- Must be able to pass a DOT physical
