Generator Technician II

Job Summary
Perform on-site and phone troubleshooting, repair, equipment modifications, installation, and sales commissioning support for Generac industrial products. Execute emergency and unscheduled repairs during normal hours, weekends, and holidays as directed. Conduct scheduled preventative maintenance, read operational manuals and electrical schematics, and report faulty operations to the service manager. Create work reports in FieldServio and communicate findings via phone, email, and in person. Manage equipment commissioning for industrial and MPS products while adhering to NFPA and state regulations. Requires up to 50% travel, valid driver's license, and ability to lift up to 100 pounds.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma
- Valid Driver License
- 4 years servicing and troubleshooting of Emergency Power Supply Systems (EPSS)
- Working knowledge of mechanical design
- Working knowledge of AC and DC circuitry
- Working knowledge of power generation
- Working knowledge of wiring schematics
- Working knowledge of connection diagrams
- Working knowledge of Engine maintenance
- Working knowledge of troubleshooting of natural gas fuel systems
- Knowledge of power generation; light tower, pumps, and heating products
- Working knowledge of diesel or gaseous engines
- Excellent troubleshooting skills
- The ability to make independent decisions
- Ability to work with minimal supervision
- Working knowledge of transfer switch operations
- Ability to obtain and maintain Generac certification in the air-cooled and protector series courses
- Ability to work and communicate well with others
- Ability to provide detailed reports within 24 hours
- Ability to manage and respond to emails, texts, and phone calls in a safe and timely manner
- Excellent conflict and resolution skills
- Ability to observe, identify and relay critical information to the company, customers, or coworker
- Must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds unassisted
- Must be able to lift and/or move up to 100 pounds with assistance
- Must be able to work in varying weather conditions including extreme heat, snow, and ice
- Must be able to obtain a DOT Medical Card
- Must be able to drive a heavy-duty truck on a daily basis
- Must comply with assigned location PPE requirements, including but not limited to safety glasses, hearing protection, appropriate gloves, clothing, and shields
- Must be able to work in the typical conditions of a manufacturing environment, including seasonal variations in temperatures and occasional exposure to manufacturing fumes or byproducts
Desired Qualifications
- Associate degree in Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering
- 6 years servicing and troubleshooting of Emergency Power Supply Systems (EPSS)
