Generator Technician

Job Summary
Diagnose, service, and repair residential standby generators and transfer switch systems, performing preventative maintenance, inspections, and warranty repairs. Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, fuel, ignition, charging, and control-system issues by reading wiring diagrams and interpreting electrical schematics. Use a company-provided iPad and field-service software to document each job, including findings, work performed, and parts used. Participate in an on-call rotation for emergency outage service. Explain service findings and repair recommendations clearly to customers while maintaining excellent communication skills.
Required Qualifications
- 2+ years of experience in generator, electrical, HVAC, automotive, mechanical, or related field service
- Experience working with engines and mechanical equipment
- Understanding of electrical systems, wiring, controls, and AC/DC fundamentals
- Strong mechanical aptitude and diagnostic/troubleshooting skills
- Ability to use multimeters and other diagnostic tools
- Comfort using iPads, mobile applications, and company software to complete job documentation
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record
- Strong communication and customer-service skills, with the ability to work independently and outdoors in varying weather conditions
Desired Qualifications
- Generac Air-Cooled Certification or other Generac certifications
