Job Summary
Generator Technician for commercial/industrial power systems responsible for diagnostics, troubleshooting, inspections, preventative maintenance, and repair of diesel and natural gas generators. Performs load bank testing, fuel and battery checks, and generator performance evaluations; maintains service documentation; responds to after-hours or emergency service requests; coordinates with service managers and dispatch; ensures safety and environmental compliance; assists with startups, commissioning, and customer walkthroughs. Travel to regional customer locations with some overnight trips as needed. Requires 2–5 years of experience with commercial/industrial generators, ability to read wiring diagrams and manuals, strong mechanical/electrical troubleshooting, valid driver's license, and willingness to work overtime/on-call; certifications from CAT, Cummins, Kohler, etc. are a plus.
Required Qualifications
- 2 to 5 years of experience servicing commercial or industrial generators
- Strong knowledge of diesel and/or natural gas generator systems, transfer switches, and control panels
- Ability to read wiring diagrams, schematics, and technical manuals
- Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
- Ability to work overtime and participate in on-call rotation as needed
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Certifications or factory training (CAT, Cummins, Kohler, etc.) are a plus
