Job Summary
Experienced Generator Technician needed to perform preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair on diesel and natural gas generators ranging from 5kW to 5MW in Norfolk and Richmond, VA. Responsibilities include diagnosing and repairing Automatic Transfer Switches (ATS) including bypass isolation and closed transition, troubleshooting AC/DC electrical systems and control panels, conducting load bank testing and system performance checks, generator start-ups, commissioning, and warranty repairs per manufacturer guidelines. Use OEM diagnostic tools and software to identify issues, document service findings and recommendations, and manage job status and field documentation. Ability to work in a field-based environment with travel and occasional overnight stays. Generac certification preferred and an associate degree in electrical or mechanical field preferred; 2+ years of relevant experience and ability to read electrical diagrams are required. Required Qualifications
- 2+ years of experience servicing diesel and/or natural gas generators and electrical power systems
- Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams and technical documentation independently
