Job Summary
Experienced Generator Technician needed to install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair diesel and natural gas generators (5kW–5MW) and related electrical/control systems in a field-based role across the Houston, Austin, and Dallas area. Responsibilities include performing preventive maintenance, diagnosing and repairing Automatic Transfer Switches (ATS) including bypass isolation and closed transition, troubleshooting AC/DC electrical systems and control panels, conducting load bank testing and system performance checks, generator start-ups and warranty repairs per manufacturer guidelines, utilizing OEM diagnostic tools and software, documenting service findings and recommendations, and managing service documentation, scheduling, and inventory in a field-based environment. Requires 5+ years of experience, the ability to read wiring diagrams independently, and strong customer communication. Generac certification preferred; associate degree in electrical or mechanical field preferred. Willingness to travel and endure occasional overnight stays; company-provided tools, training, and career growth opportunities are offered.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience servicing diesel and/or natural gas generators and electrical power systems
- Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams and technical documentation independently
- Generac certification preferred
