Job Summary
Generator Technician role within a power generation company expansion in Central/Northern NJ. Responsibilities include servicing, repairing, modifying and diagnosing standby power generators across brands, performing failure analysis and emergency field service, conducting start-ups and load bank tests, and maintaining ATSs. Requires experience with standby generators up to 2 MW, load bank testing, and natural gas or diesel engines; ATS, switchgear, PLC engine and generator controllers experience is preferred. Field work at commercial/industrial sites such as hospitals, nursing homes, office buildings, fire stations, events, etc. Compensation $25-45/hour with a company vehicle, full benefits, and opportunities for training and growth.
Required Qualifications
- Experience working on standby generators and related equipment up to 2 MW
- Able to conduct a load bank test and perform full PMs
- Natural gas and/or diesel engine knowledge
- ATS and switchgear experience preferred
- PLC engine and generator controllers experience
- Responsibilities: Service, repair, modify and diagnosis standby power generators
- Perform failure analysis, emergency field service and/or repairs for customers
- Conduct start-ups, PM service and load bank tests
- Maintain and repair ATSs (both regular and bypass units)
- Work on a variety of commercial/industrial customer sites (hospitals, nursing homes, office buildings, fire stations, correctional facilities, events, etc)
- Compensation: $25-45/hour
