Job Summary
Test and troubleshoot Generac systems, including continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures, using ohmmeters, voltmeters, and oscilloscopes to ensure compatibility and safety. Perform inspections, preventive maintenance, repairs, and emergency service on Air-Cooled 10-26KW generators, identifying defective parts for ordering. Replace batteries, filters, and components per manufacturer recommendations while communicating facts to customers and factory support. Write clear service reports and ensure work scope is completed before generator operation. Must own mechanics and electrical tools, work unsupervised in loud environments, and be on-call for emergencies. Requires 2-5 years of field experience with automatic transfer switches and ability to climb utility poles and lift 70 pounds.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 2-5 years of field experience and knowledge of Generac air-cooled generators maintenance & repair, including automatic transfer switches
- Current commercial driver's license (CDL) and clean driving record
- Must be able to be on-call for emergency services
- Must be a self-starter, work unsupervised and alone
- Must be able to work in loud environments
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Proficient in electrical systems diagnostic equipment
- Excellent mechanical skills
- Able to climb utility poles and work at great heights
- Physically able to work with heavy tools and equipment at heights
- Must be able to lift 70 pounds at a time to carry heavy cable
