Generator Service Technician

Job Summary
Generator Service Technician responsible for inspection, maintenance, diagnostics, repair, testing, and emergency support of commercial/industrial power generation systems. Performs field service on diesel and natural gas generators, ATS, fuel systems, and temporary power equipment; conducts preventative maintenance, oil/filter changes, inspections, alarm reviews; diagnoses and troubleshoots generator failures and ATS faults; reads electrical schematics and service manuals; conducts load bank testing and monitors parameters (voltage, frequency, temperature, pressures); prepares detailed reports and supports on-call rotations; required to travel locally and respond to emergency service requests.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical school or vocational training preferred
- 3+ years of experience servicing commercial or industrial generators preferred
- Strong knowledge of diesel and natural gas engine systems
- Experience troubleshooting generator controls, electrical systems, and ATS
- Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and service manuals
- Familiarity with diagnostic software and computerized control systems
- Strong customer service and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple service assignments
- Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record

- EGSA Certification
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30
- NFPA 70E
- CDL (Preferred)
- OEM Generator Manufacturer Certifications
- Reading and interpreting electrical schematics
- Load bank testing equipment operation
- Diagnostic software experience
