Job Summary
Consult with the Service Manager to plan work schedules and travel to customer residences using the company vehicle. Inspect, troubleshoot, repair, and perform preventative maintenance on whole home standby generators while adhering to all safety practices. Communicate directly with customers regarding arrival, work performed, and issues resolved. Read and interpret technical manuals, electrical wiring diagrams, and blueprints to execute repairs. Test and operate automatic transfer switches, then document all services completed in the electronic software system. Work primarily outdoors in varying weather conditions, with a typical Mon-Fri schedule subject to change during storms.
Required Qualifications
- Strong customer service and communication skills (verbal and written)
- Problem-solving, organization, and decision-making skills
- Ability to work independently demonstrating initiative
- Reading and comprehension skills
- Ability to drive company vehicles safely
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Experience with mechanical small engine repair work
- Experience with electrical wiring
- Valid driver's license and satisfactory driving record
- Physical ability to perform job duties including bending, stooping, climbing ladders, pulling, grasping, and walking on uneven surfaces
- Ability to work primarily outdoors in varying weather conditions and temperatures
- Proper eyesight/vision to be able to perform mechanical repairs safely
- Ability to interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics
- Must be able to drive company vehicles to each job site
- Must be able to adhere to all safety practices and requirements
