Job Summary
Deliver single-session therapy, short-term individual counseling, group workshops, and tailored outreach to undergraduate, graduate, and professional students across Ithaca and Cornell Tech. Provide consultation and referrals for mental health concerns including suicidality, disordered eating, substance use, depression, anxiety, and trauma while collaborating with academic colleges, faculty, and healthcare providers. Serve as a point of contact for mental health education and prevention strategies within satellite locations. Requires a New York State-licensed Master of Social Work or Doctorate in Clinical Psychology with 3-5 years of experience. Flexibility for after-hours or weekend outreach is necessary.
Required Qualifications
- Master of social work degree with 'C' or 'R' designation (LCSW or LCSW-R) or Doctorate in clinical or counseling psychology (PhD or PsyD)
- 3-5 years of work-related experience
- Licensed in New York State
- Strong interest in entrenching clinical services within the culture of academics and the campus community
- Professional autonomy and maturity allowing for independent delivery of services in a satellite location
- Experience with individuals presenting with common clinical issues prevalent in college mental health including but not limited to suicidality, disordered eating, substance use disorders, depression, anxiety disorders, and trauma
- Effective interpersonal, written, verbal and electronic communications skills, including the ability to convey complex information in accessible terms to diverse or multicultural audiences
- Understanding of, and compliance with, the ethical and legal issues involved in the provision of clinical services
- Ability to advocate for individuals from a broad range of backgrounds
- Ability to cultivate and develop inclusive working relationships with students, faculty, staff, and community members
- Ability to manage and carefully maintain confidential and private information; uses confidential, sensitive and/or private records and information, protects information appropriately
- Flexibility in working hours to accommodate periodic delivery of outreach services after hours or on weekends
