Job Summary

Prepare food and baked goods as directed by the Food Service Manager, strictly following recipes and production planning sheets. Obtain, weigh, and measure products from storage areas to ensure menus are correctly prepared, then package and store food products in accordance with food safety standards. Monitor the serving line to ensure adequate food availability, replacing depleted items with fresh products. Operate the point of sale system and perform cash handling duties while assisting the manager in ordering and inventorying products. Maintain high standards of sanitation, safety, and work habits by adhering to the Handbook for School Food Service Personnel and all Board policies. Assist with necessary food service operations during emergencies and interact courteously with the public. Complete required annual continuing education and training as mandated by USDA Professional Standards or other agencies.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing
  • Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects
  • Ability to reach, stretch, bend, stoop or kneel to handle, lift or move objects from floor level to 6 feet above floor level
  • Ability to walk or stand for periods of four (4) continuous hours
  • Ability to work under the following environmental conditions: The worker is subject to inside environmental conditions. There is protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes
  • The worker is subject to extreme cold. Temperatures are below 32 degrees for periods of more than one hour
  • The worker is subject to extreme heat. Temperatures are above 100 degrees for periods of more than one hour
  • The worker is subject to noise. There is sufficient noise to cause the worker to shout in order to be heard above the ambient noise level
  • The worker is subject to hazards. This includes a variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, electrical current, working on scaffolding and high places, and exposure to high heat or chemicals
  • Satisfactory clearance of a criminal history records check and drug screening
