General Technician - Wind

Job Summary

Assist with the safe and efficient operation and maintenance of wind turbines by performing basic mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation tasks under supervision. Execute maintenance procedures including changing filters, greasing components, replacing parts, and troubleshooting malfunctions while adhering to all safety policies and environmental guidelines. Read meters and gauges to verify operating conditions, maintain plant areas and equipment, and compile daily logs and reports. Complete required annual safety training and turbine-specific classroom and hands-on training within the designated time frame. Work holidays, weekends, and overtime as needed, with the ability to travel and climb towers up to 300 feet.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Possess a valid driver's license for the state in which you are applying
  • Ability to climb up to 300 feet, unassisted, with required safety equipment, multiple times per day
  • Ability to complete climb test and tower rescue training
  • Ability to travel
  • Ability and willing to work holidays, weekends and overtime as needed
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Ability to communicate orally with other employees including the proper use of a radio
  • Ability to follow instructions and follow directions from team members
  • Ability to write routine correspondence
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra
  • Must be organized, with an ability to stay focused on assigned tasks and possess an attention to detail
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
  • Employees must be authorized to work in the US

Desired Qualifications

  • familiar with electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic and mechanical equipment, systems construction, capacities limitations and operating procedures
  • Safe use of tools, plant safety rules, probable causes of equipment and systems malfunctions
  • Basic to intermediate computer skills in word-processing, spreadsheet, and database software
  • Ability to read and interpret work from simple and/or complex instructions
  • Ability to effectively communicate with others
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Ability to write routine correspondence
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations
