General Surgery - Medical Assistant - Full Time

Job Summary
Greet guests and incoming calls, set up exam rooms, and assist providers with office exams and procedures. Perform patient intake, charting, and EMR orders, pack and sterilize instruments, and provide medication and treatment education. Clean rooms, communicate lab results and symptoms, authorize procedures, and manage prescriptions and lab work. Schedule follow-up appointments, check patients out, and complete prior authorizations for medications and imaging. Prioritize workload to maintain efficient department operations, notify patients of results as directed, and adhere to all HIPAA and OSHA guidelines. Remain flexible to stay past scheduled times as needed to accommodate patient and staff demands.
Required Qualifications
- Completion of a Medical Assistant Program or Certified Nursing Assistant Program
- 2 + years of experience
- Knowledgeable of and adhere to all HIPAA and OSHA guidelines
- Be knowledgeable of and adhere to all MMC policies and procedures
- Excellent customer service skills
- Strong skills in communicating effectively with co-workers, providers, and patients
- Ability to conduct daily functions in an appropriate, professional, and compassionate manner
- Ability to manage/prioritize multiple tasks in an efficient and timely manner
- Attention to detail and well organized
- Teamwork attitude
- Flexibility to respond to changing demands
- Ability to react calmly and competently in stressful situations
- Effectively utilize computer systems and programs that are necessary to complete daily tasks
- Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds
- Must be available to stay past scheduled work time as needed
