Job Summary
Army General Surgeon: Examinations, diagnoses, consultations, and definitive surgical care for Soldiers and their families; perform a broad range of procedures and participate in ongoing education, trainings, and conferences within the Army Medical Department. Opportunities include clinical leadership, humanitarian missions, and specialty training with potential accession bonuses and stipends for reserves. Requires MD/DO, U.S. physician license, board eligibility, and completion of GME and general surgery training; U.S. citizenship for Active Duty and permanent U.S. residency for Army Reserve.
Required Qualifications
- Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) from an accredited U.S. school
- Current license to practice medicine in the United States (US, DC, or PR)
- Board certification eligibility or certification in general surgery
- Completed at least one year of approved Graduate Medical Education (GME) internship
- Completed a training program in general surgery
- U.S. citizenship to serve on Active Duty
- Permanent U.S. residency for Army Reserve
- Permanent certificate from Educational Council for Foreign Medical Graduates (for foreign graduates)
