Job Summary
Provide comprehensive general surgery services to inpatients and outpatients at Mt. Edgecumbe Hospital, including evaluations, clinical analysis, and treatment recommendations. Serve as a surgical consultant for village health care providers throughout Southeast Alaska, conducting field visits to remote locations and the Ethel Lund Medical Center in Juneau. Manage emergency room coverage and lead surgical teams in procedures such as endoscopy, lap hernia, and colon surgery. Participate in medical staff functions, quality assurance reviews, and peer review processes while maintaining a 1:4 call ratio. Maintain a minimum of 36 weekly patient-facing hours, with remaining time allocated to administrative duties and training.
Required Qualifications
- MD or DO with active/unrestricted Alaska medical license or ability to obtain license
- Board-certified or board-eligible in General Surgery
- Unrestricted DEA
- BLS
- ACLS
- ATLS
- PALS
- On call for this service is a requirement
- One in two coverage ratio for call
- Minimum requirement of 36 patient-facing hours per week for a 1.0 FTE appointment
