Job Summary
General Surgeon duties in the U.S. Army include examining, diagnosing, consulting, prescribing treatments, and performing surgeries for Soldiers, retirees and their family members, with opportunities to participate in ongoing education, trainings, and collaborations within the Army Medical Department. The role involves leading a world-class military health care team, engaging in Surgical innovations, regenerative medicine, and 3-D anatomical modeling to support pre- and post-operative planning, while serving on Active Duty or in the Army Reserve with comprehensive benefits and eligibility for specialized pay and training programs.
Required Qualifications
- Must have a Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathy degree from an accredited U.S. school of medicine or osteopathy
- Must have a current license to practice medicine in the United States, District of Columbia or Puerto Rico
- Must be eligible for board certification
- Must have completed at least one year of an approved Graduate Medical Education (GME) internship
- Must have completed a training program in general surgery
- Must be a U.S. citizen to serve on Active Duty
- Must have a permanent U.S. residency for Army Reserve
